Ron Harris in the television sitcom “Barney Miller” (1975-1982) and as Derrial Book in one season of the SF series “Firefly”, and many more appearances in TV series such as “Teen Angel” (1997-1998), “Star Trek: Voyager” (2000) and “All Grown Up!” (2003-2008). He has been an active member of the entertainment industry since the 1970s.

Ron is the son of Lethia and Crump Glass; in Evansville, he went to the Saint Francis Seminary, and matriculated in 1964, after which he enrolled at the University of Evansville, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Drama and Literature. While still in college, Ron knew he wanted to become an actor, and encouraged by one of his professors, he auditioned for a play in college, and since then, he has been in love with acting.

After college he continued with stage performances at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, before he decided to step up and moved to Hollywood. He made his screen debut in the TV series “Sanford and Son” (1972-1974), and in 1975 got his breakout role as Det. Ron Harris in the TV series “Barney Miller”; the series aired until 1982, which certainly increased his net worth but also established him as an actor. By the end of the 1970s he had also featured in the films “Let’s Switch!” (1975) and “Crash” (1978), among other roles, which only increased further his net worth.

In 1982 he got the role of Felix Unger in the TV series “The New Odd Couple” (1982-1983), and in 1985 he played Midnight Brewster in the film “Gus Brown and Midnight Brewster”, alongside John Schneider. Three years later he appeared in the film “Deep Space”, and the following year he was selected for the role of Jason Lockwood in the TV series “Amen” (1989-1991).

In the 1990s Ron had several notable roles, mostly in TV series, such as “Rhythm & Blues” (1992-1993), “Mr. Rhodes” (1996-1997), and “Teen Angel” (1997-1998), but also in films “Houseguest” (1995), “Back In Business” (1996), “Unbowed” (1999), and “Deal Of A Lifetime” (1999), which only increased his net worth by a large margin.

He started the new millennium with guest roles in TV series “Star Trek: Voyager” (2000), “Rude Awakening” (2001), “The Proud Family” (2001), then in 2002 he was selected for the role of Shepherd Book in “Firefly” (2002-2003), a role he repeated in the film “Serenity” (2005). In 2003 he won the role of Randy Carmichael in “All Grown Up”, and appeared in 12 episodes until 2008, which added further to his net worth. In 2006 he portrayed Reenactor in “Secret History of Religion: Knight Templar”, and its sequel “Secret History of Religion: Doomsday- Book of revelation” the same year.
