Composting: New York City’s Trash Solution
September 26, 2022Jessica Tisch, New York City Department of Sanitation Commissioner, joined MetroFocus to discuss the launch of the nation’s largest curbside composting program. Beginning October 3, 2022, all residential buildings in Queens will start to receive a weekly collection of leaf and yard waste, food scraps, and food-soiled paper products. This is the first time that an entire borough will receive this service. Tisch discusses how the new program came to be, and if it could be a solution to the city’s growing rat problem.
